Will 1% hydrocortisone cream work for acne/blackheads?

have you ever tried it?

i wanna try it but i just wanna make sure its pretty safe or atleast it works...Will 1% hydrocortisone cream work for acne/blackheads?
Yeah i use it. It actually doesn't work for blackheads and some acne but it will work for big pimples and scarring for sure. It got rid of my biggest scar ever from a pimple and i was so happy about that. If you're looking for just basic every night cleasing then i would suggest washing your face with a bar of dove soap in the morning and night and use the Nutrogena On the Spot acne treatment at nights on your whole face. That works for my petty skin problems. Will 1% hydrocortisone cream work for acne/blackheads?
Hi,

To be honest with you, the only products that clear mine and my friends/family acne are products from skintreats.mfbiz.com, theyre amazing. x x x
hydrocortisone cream is an anti-itch cream, so it's not made to help with acne/blackheads. if anything, depending on how sensitive your face is, if a product is not designated specifically for the skin on your face it may have an adverse reaction such as clogging your pores and make you break out even more. instead you should find a good product line that is specifically made for acne/blackheads or whatever problem you're trying to treat. there are a number of products out there that will help. a daily beauty routine that includes a cleanser/exfoliant, toner, moisturizer and sunscreen will help to improve your overall complexion appearance and condition.
hydrocortisone is generally used for ezcema and skin complaints. i know i've used it myself.

it will not have any effect on blackheads - just give em a gentle squeeze like i do! as for the effect it will have on acne i am unsure, but what i will say is what i know.

hydrocortisone contains a steroid ingredient that thins the skin and it is not recommended by any physician or doctor for facial use, particularly thinner tissues such as the eyes and nose because of this.

my father has a skin condition called psoriasis on his hands and joints and has been using seroid creams and ointments to keep it under control for years, but his skin is veryy thin and his hands are always red and very bony because of the degree of effect the creams have had. this is a prime example of the damage that can be caused - but in thinner tissues, one would see a much swifter effect.

what i will recommend to you instead is a good soft cleanser, and to see your doctor regarding your acne. a friend of mine used to have it and she took vitamin suppliments and used products from Simple on her skin which sort of eased it a bit but she got a prescription from her gp for a cream. So my advice is do that and theres some info below on vitamins which i c%26amp;p'ed for you too.

Vitamin A helps maintain healthy skin. Vitamin B6 is important for the Treatment of Acne as it is required for the proper growth and development of skin and many other parts of the body. Zinc is an essential mineral that is a component of the enzymes needed for healthy skin and repairing wounds. Antioxidants help to prevent inflammation and so is essential in the treatment of Acne. Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant. Selenium is an essential mineral which helps build antioxidant enzymes in the body which may be useful in the treatment of Acne. Studies have shown that patients with acne may not metabolize sugar properly. Chromium may be important in the treatment of Acne as it helps to regulate blood sugar levels and indirectly affects the level of fats in the blood. - - - from http://www.mitamins.com/disease/Acne.htm鈥?/a>

i hope this helps but please make sue you know the side effects of any lotions/creams before you use them. theres also a shop called lush who make natural products and if you have on near you they'll be able to recommend some lines that might help.
Hydrocoritsone cream is for serious infectious skin complaints not for acne/blackheads. You could end up scaring your face from misuse. Buy a product with no alcohol out of somwhere like the body shop. For black heads heat a clean damp face cloth in the microwave makes sure its not too warm and place is on your black heads this will make them easily squeezed. Apply cold water after to seal the pores.
no, in fact it can make the condition worse. the acne is caused by the bacteria and a topical antibotic cream my help. ask your gp for advice...
do not use it on acne.......... it may settle it for a short time, but when you stop using the cream, your skin will be worse than before. Creams such as Hydrocortisone are usually for the treatment of Eczema and/or allergic rashes.

Hydrocortisone creams are not meant to be applied to the face, unless advised by a doctor. In any case, creams like that need to be used sparingly (they cause thinning of the skin over a period of time)

See your GP about your acne- he will probably prescribe TETRACYCLINE or MINOCYCLINE antibiotic tablets.

Good luck
don't try this kind ideas thats better for skins ok take care
It can only don't use it for long and if it's on your face use just a tiny bit, it is good but only short term I was told that it thins your skin, so be careful. I was given it many years ago and it was stronger then and it made the rash on my face worse so I was given some antibiotics that I took and it cleared it up. Good luck hope it works for you.
Hydrocortisone might help bring down the swelling on an inflamed acne lesion, but won't do anything for blackheads. Use an alchol free toner, or an exfoliant containing alpha or beta hydroxy acids.

Its also not reccomended to use for an extended period of time because it can actually cause more irritation and aggravate acne.

Good luck!
Sweetie... Cortisone is never good for you, it might work now but then you will have a problem with hair growing on your skin in those spots you treated. so do you prefer temp. acne that will go away or permenant hair?? it's up to you!
u shouldnt use 1% hydrocortisone on yr face unless yr doctor prescribes it as it can thin yr skin the one for facial use is 0.5% and only available on prescription. notwithstanding that its for inflammation not spots. u would be better to try something like Brevoxyl which is very good for spots but milder that some creams recommended by pharmacist i worked with. u can buy it from pharmacy at around 拢5
It will not hurt it, but for blackheads using water and soap and keeping your skin clean is the best remedy.
I am the same as you and I am so depressed for the past 5 years!!! it destroy my confident and self esteem and don't dare to go out with my friends. I tired many skin care solutions and products but none of them are effective :%26lt;%26lt;
